Sister Thérèse O'Neill

Picture
Picture
Sister Thérèse is a Sister of Charity of St.Paul the Apostle. The Sisters of Charity of St Paul has a long association with Banbury and with St. John's Parish in particular, as their Foundress Mother Genevieve Dupuis arrived here from France in 1847 at the request of Rev. Fr  William Tandy, to undertake the task of evangelisation and service to the poor. Sister Thérèse's arrival in June 2014 continues this association with St. John's Parish.

For most of her religious life (51 yrs) Sister has been involved in primary school education and parish ministry, mainly in Coventry, Worcestershire and Birmingham.  Following her retirement from teaching at St. Edward's Primary School, Selly Park, Birmingham in 2003, she was asked by her Congregation to work with their Sisters in Romania which she did for 9 years. Sister returned to England in October 2013.

Banbury is often lovingly referred to by the Congregation as the 'Cradle' of the community.  Sister Thérèse is very happy to be part of our vibrant parish community in order to 'rock the cradle' and to continue the Sisters' long association with the people of St. John's Parish.
